Out in the Silence  is a documentary film that captures the remarkable chain of events that unfold when the announcement of the filmmakers same-sex wedding in his small hometown newspaper leads to a firestorm of controversy and a plea for help from a gay teen. The associated Out in the Silence Community Engagement Campaign is helping to bring a message of fairness and equality to schools, places of worship, small towns and rural communities across the country. Produced with the support of the Sundance Documentary Film Fund and the Pennsylvania Public Television Network.

However, Detective Sandra Franks (Julie Bell), Nickie's lover, believes James is a fake and that her girlfriend is in over her head. James suspects someone is out to frame him for the disappearances.
